Having trouble with your webcam?

Here's a quick list of common problems and solutions.

Is your webcam plugged in to your computer?

If you have a separate webcam, make sure it hasn't come unplugged or been switched off.

Are you using the webcam already?

Most computers will only allow one application at a time use the camera. If you're using your webcam somewhere else try closing that app and then reload this page.

Is there an application that won't play nice?

Some applications have bugs that will prevent other applications from using your webcam. Skype and some IM clients have been known to do this. If you're currently using any apps that might use your webcam, try closing them and reloading this page.

Have you selected the right webcam?

If you have multiple webcams, make sure you're using the right one. You can switch webcams by right-clicking on our app, selecting "Settings…" and choosing the camera tab on the Adobe Flash Player Settings panel.

Can you use your webcam in other applications?

If you're on a Mac, go to your Applications folder and open PhotoBooth. For Windows PCs, try opening up the Properties for your webcam or reading some of Microsoft's webcam support pages. If you can't use your webcam in those apps, you most likely have a problem with your webcam.

Does your webcam have help info available?

The manufacturer of your webcam should provide information on how to resolve problems with your specific model of camera.
